"Primitive War" movie - weird Vietnam war
« on: 26 October 2024, 05:32:24 PM »
Thought it might interest a few on here that they are releasing a primitive war movie in 2025 , A vulture squad goes to a remote valley to look for a missing green beret patrol.
Dinosaurs in Vietnam war would make hell of a game .

It might be helpful to know who ‘they’ are. Do you have a link to your information source?

Also, what exactly is a primitive war movie? I have never heard that term before. Thanks.

I had not heard of this series. The synopsis appears interesting and I agree that the premise could form the basis of a game. I still know nothing about the film, however. Who exactly is making it, i.e. a studio or independent producer? This could make a world of difference, as will the budget.

Well, here’s the IMDB page:

https://m.imdb.com/title/tt18312380/

At least now we know who ‘they’ are, even if they’re unknowns.

I’m now properly intrigued. YouTube has a ‘making of’ video and also a couple of trailers, though these are for a comic adaptation of the novel that was funded - or appears to have been - via Indiegogo, but it appears only one issue has been produced thus far, and only issued to backers in print form. However, it can be read online for free:

https://www.theprimitivewar.com/comic

Edit: Having read it, this is the ‘pitch issue’ of ten pages. The Indiegogo campaign was for Issue 1, with 28 pages. I don’t know whether these included the ten of the pitch issue.

Well that sounds pretty dire… Vulture Squad in the Father Vulture helicopter go to Vulture Valley.

I dunno. You can never have enough vultures. ;)

Vulture Valley sounds like a retirement home development, albeit one in serious need of rebranding.

Conrad's "Heart of Darkness" and Conan-Doyle's "Lost World" ripped off and bashed into a Rambo-esque mess? Sounds awful but I suppose it could work in a hilarious 'straight-to-DVD' B movie kind of way - studios have made worse, right? Right?
In fact, thinking about it, "Hot Shots Part Deux" already did this, albeit without dinosaurs!

Hard to say if the movie will be any good. I like the general idea, maybe because the special forces and dinosaurs in the jungle fit the Mutant Chronicles setting quite well IMHO.

The premise immediately reminded me of a small skirmish game I've played a bit in the past few years: The Drowned Earth.

Guns, Dinos and Jungles? Check. Just add some anthropomorphic types (like gorilla's with miniguns and raccoons with jumppacks) and you're set  :D

Or replace the obviously scifi and/or furry elements with some 'proper' military equipment and characters and have at it...

The Drowned Earth

Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...
