Chain of Command 29 lets go piccies
« on: January 16, 2015, 05:17:54 PM »
Just completed the "29 let's go" mini campaign from the Toofatlardies. It was a fantastic series of games and i highly recommend it to any CoC fans that haven't tried it yet. Here are a few piccies from the first and last games. They were taken on an absolute crappy camera but you get the idea of the tables we played on.

US troops advance into La Cambe

Platoon Sergeant prepares the men for fire and move.

A Sherman takes a direct hit from a concealed 88mm and is destroyed.

German infantry prepare to fire from an orchard onto the advancing Americans

Another view of the US advance.

US troops nearing the orchard.

US troops are now within spitting distance of a dreaded MG42

These four pictures are from the last game in the series where the Americans attack the village of Osmanville.

Troops search the houses for enemy snipers.

The Sergeant puts his BAR team to cover the rifle team.

The final objective, a large house being used by the Germans as a headquarters.

A small group of German infantry prepare for the final fight, and what a very tough fight it was too.

Cheers

Gaz

Gritty look adds a sense of realism I actually like the less than high gloss pics also love the buildings. Great looking games. Still looking to getting into Chain of Command, still wondering how different it is from I aint been shot mum.

Your photos look pretty good to me.
How do you think the mini campaign would work with other rule sets?

I've struggled to find a decent WW2 set of rules over the years, but for me i find them the best set of platoon rules i've ever played and can't recommend them enough. They are a lot different from IABSM cos they use a dice system to activate multiple groups instead of the card system. They are very fast and very deadly and allow the use of real world tactics. Check this series of vids if you haven't seen them already.

Many thanks ;)

The mini campaign is written for platoon sized games and would definately work with other sets.
The Lardies xmas2014 special has the same campaign for company sized games.

Cheers

So who won?

It's great to see someone enjoying the campaign.  We had great fun with ours, it went to the wire, but the yanks pulled a marginal victory and got to Isigny at the end of turn 8.

I'm just editing our next Pint Sized campaign, the fight for Ranville on June 6th, with 125 Panzer Grenadier Regiment up against 12 Para.

The Americans won the campaign in the end. They were controlled by a very cautious player who chose to wittle away at the German's force morale rather than charge across loads of open ground and get shot to bits. Managed to win after only five turns with a total loss of 17 killed spread over the five games. The highest US losses were at St Germain du Pert trying to take out two Marders. My Platoon Sergeant managed to gain the Silver Star by taking out a Marder single handed.

Can't wait for the Ranville campaign ;)
