Hi guys...

Of course there are also the Osprey books , which aren't to expensive and are a very good starting point?..

Lovely stuff Robert... It's nice to see the bases not covered in mud...

All the best. Aly

I'll certainly be starting there... they're always good as an introduction.further reading is always required though  :)

What's wrong with Aircav's guide at the top of the Great War section?

Well, in short, nothing, I'd just like more details as the German army suffered from having to change the cloth due to the British Navy's blockade. I'm going for very Late War so I'm really interested in possible variations of tone and hue  :).

Anyway, I dropped Dave Lancaster a line and i'm waiting to hear back from him.

Atheling, one interesting item are the puttees.  As cloth supplies (and annaline dyes) became more sporadic, German puttees were often made from captured cloth - so it would be quite conceivable to see them in various shades of khaki, as well as various shades of grey or field grey.

Thanks for that- something that I hadn't even considered though it does send a bit of a shiver down my spine!  :o

I'll bear that in mind and add some variation when I paint them up.

Darrell.
