German WW1 Tanks
« on: April 19, 2015, 07:38:20 AM »
Here are some views of the German A7V (supplied by Great War Miniatures) and a Mk IV Beutepanzer (from Old Glory). The Beutepanzer has been modified with a forward-firing T-Gewehr anti-tank rifle, from the ICM German infantry weapons and equipment plastic kit set. The tank crew comprise Old Glory figures. The decals came from Brigade Games.

Robert,

Do you have a blog with more pics on? I'm just starting my Late WWI venture and could do with all the painting resources I can lay my hands on!

I've got a few Ospreys but the imagery seems very subjective and varies from book to book.

Or is there anything in print that has a lot of Late WWI German uniforms as a feature?

Darrell.

Thanks Darrell,

Here are some of my figures, FWIIW. You can make out some variations in the uniform and helmet colours.

The main uniform guides that have lots of examples cost an arm and a leg. Happy to suggest some if price is not a problem.

World War I Infantry in Colour Photographs by Mirouze is excellent, and with a bit of persistence you can probably find a decent used copy for a reasonable price.

Darrell, here are the expensive ones:

'German Army in the First World War: Uniforms and Equipment 1914 to 1918' - £88

'Imperial German Armies in Field Grey Seen Through Period Photographs' in three volumes, each costing £66.99. The three volumes cover: uniforms, headgear, weapons, gas warfare, telephone and communications equipment, infantry, jäger, schützen, radfahrer, mountain troops, machine gunners, cavalry, artillery, pioneers, transport, train, medical, and miscellaneous formations.

'Field Grey Uniforms of the Imperial German Army 1907-1918' - £104.50

'Imperial German Field Uniforms and Equipment 1907-1918' - £58.50

'Feldgrau 1915-16: The War and Peace-time Uniforms of the German Army - The Official Regulations of 1915-1916' - £58.50

Robert

PS: There may be other combinations of 'Feldgrau', 'Imperial German', 'Uniforms' and dates covering WW1 that I am not aware of  ;)

Holy Muck Shifters Batman!

You were not kidding about the expense... I think I'll have a word with Dave Lancaster (of Dave Lancaster Books strangely!) , who I know well and see if he can conjure up something for me.

Thanks for the summary of books and here's to praying that he has something suitable from your list!  :)
