Don't ask me for brand names, most are just "Made in China" these days, and all are second hand from fleamarkets/carbootsales. Sizes vary from 1:75 to 1:57, depending on what car tickels my fancy. This makes them technically a tad overscale, but no one ever complained about that.

Not sure about the actual models, but I'll bet you a thousand Iraqi dinars that those taxis are Toyota Corollas. Every darn taxi between Cairo and Islamabad is!

The two right hand taxis look like their headlights are on. 

Did you wire them up with lights or is it a painted lighting effect?  Either way it looks stellar.

Hehe, no, nothing like that, just the effect I get when the light is right, I tend to coat all of these cars with 2 coats of gloss to get a good shine on the glass, and only matte coat all the non reflective surfaces afterwards. So the glass, headlights and taillights tend to reflect light rather wel.

Well you've inspired me to pick up some die-casts of my own for painting.  Any recommendations on modern 1/72 minis?

Hmm, depends on what' your fancy. I tend to use Liberation miniatures only, as they have virtually everything, and if they don't have it they might make it in the future. But Stan Johansen makes them as well (mostly insurgents though) and from Caesar you can get decent plastics. You could check out the Ambush Alley yahoo group and forum if you need more info about Moderns.
