Hey folks,

Well it's been a long time coming, but we have the first casts of the M41 now coming out of the molds!  It's an easy to build model, with 4 main parts, plus  a few hatches...

And fully assembled:

I'll post an update when these are fully stocked and available.

Looks great.
As one who said I wanted one or two,
I better get some.
Any plans for crew members?
What is really needed is some ARVN figures to go with them.
I know Baker Company makes a couple of packs.

That's lovely! Will add one to my upcoming order.

Odd request.  Any chance of being able to buy just the tracks by themselves? I've always wanted to make an M-59 APC. The hull is an easy enough proposition but ready made running gear would make it a realistic project.

Hmm, yeah, I can see about that.  I want to make a couple M42 Dusters as well, so I'd want some too.

PM me and I'll see what we can do.

Some 800+ M59s were sent to South Vietnam and others remained in service with the National Guard into the 80s, plus others exported  elsewhere... so should *someone* make it as part of their range, there is a potential market there.

 ;)

Sadly I couldn't promise the same for the M114... but it would make a nice model.

What is really needed is some ARVN figures to go with them.

This is my biggest complaint about Vietnam ranges... nobody wants to make the 'Little People'. Not counting the period '65 to '75, the period '62 to '65 offers more balanced wargames, as well as very much an 'adventure' element if you prefer RPG-style games... indeed it has been described by many as 'the last great adventure' and offers a sort of modern version of 'Darkest Africa' gaming; 'Go tell the Spartans' and a fair chunk of 'Bright Shining Lie' was set in that era.

Actually I don't think that's right. I suspect it's a bit of Wiki-fiction whose provenance probably goes back to Tom Gervasi. I've never seen any evidence that the ARVN had any M-59s in their inventory let alone 800. M113 and a few M114 (briefly) but not the M-59. Never seen any photos of one either.

Brazil did have a lot of them. I took some photos sometime ago. It is a big beast.

Actually I've never seen a pic of one either for that matter and 800 is a lot of APCs not to take pics of. Forget I said that.  ::)

Hmmm, we should probably see who else wants the M59 and M-42.

The M59 is pretty straight forward.  I could probably get CAD of the hull in a week, and it wouldn't cost much to print or cast.

The duster would be a bit more, as I'd want the gun turret to be metal...plus crew.

I imagine the Duster would be popular... "when you just have to kill every VC in the treeline".  ;)

Oddly though it was not a vehicle which made it onto the 'wishlist'... still I am surprised there has not been an upsurge in interest in Vietnam either, this year is the fiftieth anniversary of the deployment of U.S. ground forces there after all. Perhaps not a cause for celebration, but for it to be largely ignored by the community seems odd.

As with anything U.S. '50s & '60s, the M59 is on my personal wishlist; but that is also a fairly long list and as I am currently doing a fair impression of 'Man in a Suitcase', not something I can buy right now.

It does look like quite a different vehicle with the M13 cupola. The 'human shield' field mod might raise some eyebrows though.  ;)

I'm up for at  least one, maybe more if you make an M-59. Best you start printing Brazilian armour decals....

As mentioned, M59s served in a lot of units even after the M113 was introduced, at least in Europe.

Given the new interest in all things Cold War, I suspect there'll be increasing interest in them.

Would love some of your M41s, since it looks really great, but alas my military procurement budget is a bit restricted currently.
