Armored Train preview. First casts due 5/6/08!
« on: May 06, 2008, 05:31:07 AM »
Preview shot of our train.  This is the main engine and connected tender.  Released on the same day will be a flat car with side options for a troop or artillery version (or stick an FT-17 or armored car on there!)

The first castings are literally due in tomorrow.  Then we have to prep for our local Con, on May 25.  So look for the train to go on sale around that date or the following week.

"Can't wait to get my hands on it"

Neither Can I !  been a long drawn out wait....this is the never ending model, since I started the master over a year ago.  This is version II, as the first test casts that arrived a few months ago were good..but by then we wanted to rework the design a bit.  All was not lost though as we were able to use some of the bits to make a one off armored Japanese train for Burma!

I'm working on HMG box cars and turret cars now.  plus a special flat car to haul the Austin Putilov I'd have in progress.

Also, two sheets of decals are ready as well.  One for White armored trains, the other for Red.  Those can be seen on our decal pages
http://homepage.mac.com/brentdietrich/companyB_decals.htm

A lot of time and messing with fonts went into the decals.  Hopefully we did them justice, even getting the help of some Russian Language experts!

Oh, can can you confirm the wheel width fits S-gauge track?

(Or did you say it's variable?)

The wheels and axels it ships with will fit S gauge track (and we are sourcing some for sale on our site, as well as to send to Wargames Outpost in the UK)

The wheel holders though are not cast into the model.  So you have to glue them onto their subassembly (easier to test align that small piece to the track) then glue that insert into the bottom of the train cavity.  As such, you can pretty much scratch build your own insert for any scale or gauge track/wheels you want if you'd prefer something else.  You could also use small bits of plastic tube on the sub assembly to make the wheels roll quite easily if you want to take it further...

I can't wait to see the painted product.

I was looking at this thread last night, and my son (who is 4) commented that the armored train looked like "a funny Thomas (the tank engine)."
