The 1/56 M41 Walker Bulldog. Who wants?
« on: 08 April 2014, 10:50:21 PM »
New masters arrived!

The M41 Walker Bulldog.  Now, since moderns don't really do well for us (company B)  this is sort of a self funded project.  I'm thinking of casting these just for myself, but if enough people want one I can probably get the tracks, and other bits in metal, leaving just the hull and turret for me to cast.  It's about the same size as the Company B Chaffee tank, which also has metal tracks.  So the price point would be about the same.

I want to just cast enough to meed initial demand and pay for molds.  So for now, this model is only available by request!  So if you are interested, please send me a PM with the number wanted.

Now for the pictures!

Parts:

Side View

Top View: Both commanders and loaders hatch can be opened.

Size with 1/56 Chaffee

I have molds made of the BTR-152 as well.  So any folks interested in that one...same deal.  Let me know if there is interest and I'll do a limited run.

Same price as the Chaffee? That'd be £21.50 right? Would the BTR-152 be the same? I'd be interested in the BTR (that M41's nice, and I've been peening for one, but I have too many tanks at the moment), but what're the chances of posting some sort of shot of what the model would look like?

Brent,
Love the tank.
I will take two (2) if you produce it.
Perfect for Viet Nam.

Well, as you know, we can make decals to order :)   I must have done at least 20 custom/special orders over the last few months, a few of them showing up here on LAF.

I still need to do the decal set for this kit though, so maybe a triple US, Brazil, West German sheet would do the trick.

In other news, I think we have enough folks interested that we can make this kit offered on our site for pre-order with the BTR-152 and put it into manufacture right away. That means metal tracks/wheels and detail parts, with resin hulls/turrets.  I'll built out a pre-order page and PM those that were interested.

Kostas has created some really nice Russians for Eureka.  Someone should pester them to make crew for the BTR.  Does anyone make Cold War era US tank commanders?

Well Vietnam is a full ongoing project not a new one... but an ARVN M41 would beg for ARVN troops... I like the BAker co ones, but they are just line infantry with no command... mumble mumble....

I take it people liked the model then?  lol

While U.S. decals are what I'd like for my first purchase of them... ARVN must surely be the most likely use as far as most gamers are concerned?

:?

As regards crew...  I also vote Kosta to do some! Here's some reference material...

I like your thinking... I dream of ARVN pre-M16 and who are also actually shorter than the Americans in the same range too.  :)

ARVN decals are easy enough to do.  I'll have to see how many I can fit on a sheet before I break them out.

Any more crew/commander references?  We do have a new WW2 US tank crew set coming out in a few weeks.  Maybe I can convert one of them?

Yes, that's the commander of the M3 Lee "Lulubelle" in the corner...  I made the decals..so we needed a figure to make it work.

Second from the right should still work for the post Elvis period with conversion to the headwear. For the 1960s, the US CVC helmet was the standard and easy to convert that figure with some greenstuff.
