At the BAD Gamers (Brackley and District Gamers) club night this week - Dragon Rampant - What's not to like?
A four handed game of Dragon Rampant with 48 points on each side of the table split into 2 commands of 24 points each.
One wing saw the sensible army of Korn made up of Perry Archers and GW Rohirrim foot led by Elite Foot Harry Korn and his brother Larry face off against Dwarven foot and Beserker units.
So far so normal ...
The other wing was a little more off the wall with one side led by Elite Foot Spellcaster Mazza the Mighty (who bears a passing resemblance to a computer game Plumber who cannot be named for obvious IP reasons) with two Elephants and a Giant Rat thing masquerading as Lesser Warbeast units mixing it up with a giant T-Rex, Skeletons, mixed beastmen and the leader unit of bare chested barbarians.
A little more eclectic shall we say

The Archers of Korn 1

and 2

Bellicose Beasts rampage through the ruins while the Dwarven Host move forward up the left flank and the big, brave Barbarians hide in a wood

Mazza spots
Yoshi the T-Rex and casts Power Bolt! Ouch, that hurts

More Dino on
Mario Mazza action!

Beasts Clash! and the Rex takes a big chunk out of Jumbo's strength points (Rex is an Elite Rider unit with the Venomous trait - nasty in a brawl)

Dragon Rampant proves to be a fun, light hearted set of rules, with enough tactical variation to give the game a challenge. You can make units out of anything to hand which is a large part of it's charm.
There are not many games where you can raid a child's toy box to make an army from (I'm looking at you Frank) ... and I have had the Rex for ages so it was great to actually use him (and prove my wife wrong - "What do you want THAT for" was the comment I got when I picked it up in the shop - they just don't understand, do they)
The table looked great but we decided there was just too much terrain in the end.
