Trial game and paper terrain

I had my first trial game today against my son.  To get a quick idea of how the rules went we used a limited selection of spells.  

We had great fun, both of us getting three treasures apiece, and extra excitement when two trolls wandered onto the table right next to a treasure - and my treasure hunter!
We used mostly D&D prepainted minis, which I am in the process of repainting to improve the look.  The lad used his latest painted figure, a Reaper Bones 'tiefling' as a knight.

Terrain was the old GW ruins of Osgiliath and various papercraft ruined buildings; mostly Fat Dragon with some Dave Graffam, all fold flat for ease of storage.

Looking good! I was just thinking about paper terrain when I saw your post, I'm definitely going to look into getting some.

Thanks, I used the ruins expansion for Ravenfell and the ruins set from Dragonshire (both Fat Dragon products).  I had to make the Dragonhire ruin fold flat, but it was pretty easy following how the Ravenfell ruins work.
I then applied similar principles to the Dave Graffam split ruin model to make that fold flat too.
I will be taking these on holiday, so wanted them to take up as little space as possible (I am limited to one box of gaming stuff).
In an ideal world I would build terrain just like I used to back in Mordheim days, but this works and is a lot quicker.

I had to have a double take looking at your pictures.. I have the same shade felt, paper buildings, and terrain pieces from Return of the King!

Good to see people using paper terrain I have no Fat Dragon stuff but I love Dave Graffam's models. I can recommend WorldWorksGames' Hinterland paper terrain products, lots of useful things there like bushes, trees, and even cliffs.

I use World Works Games terrain for Judge Dredd. I can second that recommendation.

@ Miller, the felt is from Boyes, a great source of hobby materials (and Vallejo paints).
I wish I had bought more of the LotR terrain sets when they were available, they are silly prices now.

I have tried both World Works and Fat Dragon and personally prefer FD, mostly as it seems to use less ink for the same sort of build.  I do have Hinterlands though, and it is very useful for RPG.

I also find FD very useful, and I have the Elven Mill and the Elven Wall from Lord Zsezse, which I can recommend if you like a High Fantasy Look.

I am looking forward to the full release of the LZ elven terrain as I believe that also includes ruins.
There was, I believe, a ruined sanctuary free at one time, no idea if its still available.
