OSC Skirmish Review (Digital Copy)
« on: 26 October 2015, 05:37:20 PM »
Score: 9/10

Pros:
-Very simple to understand.
-Games are fast and can be played over and over quickly.
-Templates, cards, and counters are free and available to download.

Cons:
-Small font, on my laptop and printed a sample page I am having a hard time reading. I wonder if it is because us in the US use different page size?
-With rules that are so simple, there can be some very vague situations that pop up, maybe having a "GM" could help clarify problems.

So I finally sat down and played a game of OSC (sorry no pics). It was very fun, I love how there is very little rules lawyering and the game encourages the FUN aspect of gaming, rather than the COMPETITIVE aspect of wargaming. For $6 the download is well worth the price and include 27 pages of content including original artwork and stories. The rules take up a very large portion of the download, and are VERY easy to follow.

I had originally thought of creating and started writing my own game system like this, but it turns out I was beaten to the punch. There is only one stat that matters, and it also dictates the points of the model, this is then modified by the armor and weapons.

To get into the game, very few models are needed, depending on what type of force. Elite forces are a low model count so using higher quality miniatures would still be cheap. Lower quality forces have a higher model count, but can be had for cheap by using lower quality miniatures (they're throw away troops, so who cares how they look).

Long story short, I highly recommend everyone try the game. For a low price there is a lot of fun that you can have.

After this feedback I have made an additional 1 page spread layout of rules for digital download, this will help legibility on some readers and for printing.

This will be part of all future purchases and all previous purchases will have this added to their accounts download section.

Please allow an hour for the full update to take effect.

Happy gaming

Can anyone tell me what Oscar Sierra Charlie stands for?
"Some scientists say that humans exhibit a behavior called neophilia, which is a preference for new objects. It’s why we like shiny new things."
