A Boer War style land train?
It'd be a lot faster to build than on of these(there's some line drawing plans on the traction engine thread which if I remember rightly Jon added) I'll confess it's not a model I've made for a long time. How ever it's just a series of boxes with wheels, even the engine is simple once you take a second look.Infact you could turn one out in a couple of evenings.
If your not a regular scratch builder then the Boer War version would be a great starting point,as you'd use pretty much the same methods on the log hauler .( I promised I'd get round to doing a tutorial on one but got completely sidetracked with a Space 1889 flyer in card. Then a pulp'd two man airship.)
But if you do decide to make either one feel free to pick my brains such as they are

and I'll help with what ever I can. I'll add that there are some lovely of the versions of the Boer War train already floating around on the forum.(If on occasion a little over complicated.)so you should find all the inspiration you'd need right here in the forum.
