Right, thank you for all the nice comments - here we go with the final game. Carrying on from above the survivors have continued to the lowest level of the dungeon (no time for reinforcements this time), so I think I’m down to 307 gold. Gareth had produced a list at about 350 gold, but on hearing this quickly lowered this to around 315 gold.
Here’s a shot of the setup. My guys will enter from the bottom left, and Gareth’s guys from the top. There are 9 adventure tokens scattered around the joint.

Here come the boys (and girls)….

The bad guys go first, and move into the main cavern.

I go second, but we’re too far away to cause any damage although my valiant warrior gets into contact with an adventure token.

Second turn and my noble heroes go first again. The token gives a card for Gareth to use, I begin by sneaking in some more, making contact with another adventure token. The dwarf is despatched to explore the passageway to the bottom right, I have limited confidence in his ability to survive, and there is an adventure token down there.

Half way through the turn I realise I should really go for it now while all Gareth’s guys are spread out. I decide to start with the Roper (mainly after seeing how good it seemed in Old Coast’s report. The Edwin manages to hit it with a pillar of wrath which wounds it and sets it on fire. The Monk charges in and fails to wound, but a second attack does (thanks to my use of fate tokens…). Annoyingly though, because he’s not got a weapon it only stuns it. Still, that’s not bad though. My thief moves onto an adventure token rather than getting involved.

Gareth’s guys swing into action. He decides the Drow need to jump the stream, sadly none of them fall in (must be that Elven dexterity). They target the Acolyte with their poisoned handbows, giving him one wound and causing him to be weakened. The Eye Tyrant floats forward (it’s pretty safe as a flyer) to start throwing his magical weight around. Happily his pillar of wrath misses.

In the end phase the acolyte loses his weakened status and the Roper loses his stunned status he stays on fire but takes no damage – uh oh...
I go first again. Poor positioning leaves me with fewer activations than I would have liked. The Monk moves away from the Roper and attacks a Drow, who dodges. The Edwin launches another Pillar of Wrath, catching the Eye Tyrant and Drow. The Eye tyrant’s magic resistance kicks in, saving it from harm. The Drow is unwounded but is set on fire. The Ranger manages a wound on the Eye Tyrant with a shot from her Eleven bow, the thief finds nothing of use under the adventure token, and the Dwarf continues on his merry way down the tunnel away from the action.

The warrior charges in and puts a wound on the Drow attacking my acolyte. Finally the acolyte heals himself and hits the Drow. But because he’s carrying a staff, he only stuns him. Opps – should have done those attacks the other way around…..
Gareth decides this is a good chance to take out some of my guys now, and it turns out he’s not wrong. A Pillar of Wrath from the Eye Tyrant wounds and sets on fire both the Old Codger (bandit) and my thief lady. A telekentic attack puts a wound on the warrior. The Roper manages to put itself out and then wounds the acolyte with a tentacle attack and the Drow start gathering round the Monk and manages to land a poisoned wound on him too.

In the end phase the burning Drow puts himself out. With only a single wound the Bandit dies, the thief lady fails to put herself out and takes a second wound, meaning she dies too. This means I need to take a moral test, which I predictably fail. I lose 1 guy and opt to remove the Dwarf who is now too far away to be useful (just for fun we assumed he reached the cavern to search for the treasure as he fled – so we pulled a card from the deck and got poisoned spikes, so he dies horribly).
Excellent, my guys are on the ropes now, and this time I really need that first turn, but I don’t get it. Don’t worry, Gareth cheerfully informs me, I don’t think going second this turn will be a bad thing for you. He then proceeds to blast the rest of my guys to smithereens.
The Roper and the Drow gang up on the Monk, quickly dishing out another 2 wounds and putting him on the floor. Ignoring the stunned Drow on the floor, the Eye Tyrant launches another Pillar of Wrath taking down my acolyte and setting the Warrior (and the stunned Drow) on fire – neither of them take damage though.
At this point I’m in big trouble, both my healers are down and going out in the end phase, and I have no way to save them. So I decide the only thing I can do is try to take out the Eye Tyrant.
The Edwin makes a start. Yet another Pillar of Wrath sets both the Eye Tyrant and a Drow on fire, and Edwin follows up with a mighty none shall pass, which drops all the enemies except the Eye Tyrant to the floor (annoyingly as he flies, he’s out of range which was something I hadn’t realised until Gareth pointed it out). This is where is all falls apart. Realising I can’t take out the Tyrant this turn the Ranger goes for the Roper instead, but fails to wound. Then even worse, the warrior fails to put himself out twice, sinking my admittedly desperate and unlikely plan of charging in taking out 3 downed Drow using his reign of steel ability ( I could have tried it while on fire I guess, but I didn’t want to suffer all the penalties it brings)

So in the end phase I lose both the Monk and the Acolyte. I fail another moral check and lose another model. This time I ditch the warrior (he runs off burning and drowns in the river trying to put himself out) as I don’t think he’s in a position to help me much while he’s on fire. On the plus side Gareth’s stunned Drow finally burns to death, so at least I’ve killed something.

From here things predictably go downhill fast. I go first and try to takeout some of the downed Drow with Pillar of Wrath – hoping to cause a moral check to even things up. I manage to set some on fire, but don’t cause much damage. The ranger again fails to hurt the Eye Tyrant as it’s magical aura ( I forget what it’s called) again deflects her arrow.

Gareth decides it’s in the bag. The Eye tyrant puts itself out and floats serenely away. Some of the Drow make it too their feet and wound the Edwin with a poisoned handbow.

In the end phase I fail another moral check and the Ranger takes to her heels, leaving the Edwin all alone to face his fate.

With a mighty effort he overcomes the poison flowing through his system and attempts to cast a mystic web, but this last gasp effort is too much for him. He fails to cast by one and the Drow close in and mercilessly gun him down….

So Edwin and his do-gooders fall at the last hurdle, with only one of them managing to escape alive.
So, that's the end of this little campaign. We've also got all the 7th Voyage rules now, so we'll be doing another campaign soon, and trying to work some the Characters, Creatures and Items from those rules in. Gareth's also bought Ainsty Casting's big ship, so I think he'll want to use that, Hopefully with the Beyond the 7 Seas expansion we should be able to put something cool together.
Thanks for reading
