A preview shot of part of the War of the Spanish Succession game we intend to present at Partizan in a few weeks time.  Figures are from the collections of five of the club members and all the scenery from the extensive resources of the Grimsby Wargames Society.

Mega!!! Did you all have to unify on a certain basing type/ technique? Amazing stuff.

We aren't overly strict on basing but as a rule of thumb it's 80mm frontage for 4 infantry or 3 horse or 1 field piece.  Battalion guns are 40mm frontage (equivalent to 2 infantry).

We were on a smaller frontage (15mm per foot) when we started but as we've changed figure manufacturers over the years (first Minifigs, Hinchliffe and Strategem but now nearly all Front Rank) we had to increase the basing to accommodate the larger figures.

depth is less critical and makes no difference under the rules but we generally allow 20mm per rank of foot or 40mm for horse (again more about fitting the figure to the base then the base to the figure).

My bad.

The five members all have different basing techniques.  One prefers a Gilder style with brown and green gravel and sand mixes, one uses sand and static grass, one use brown and green bastex, one used gravel with static grass and silfor tufts.
I use polyfilla with sand and seven different grass and flower tufts.

As long as the individual collections are all of the same style it seems to work well on the table.
