Gripping Beast plastic Late Romans vs Saxon Thegns?
« on: May 29, 2016, 08:58:35 PM »
I've bought a box of Late Romans but there are only eight soldiers in chainmail and I would have to buy two boxes more to get enough of them, but I don't need so many archers and unarmoured soldiers, so I've thought about buying with a friend half a box of Saxon Thegs.
I've been told Saxon Thegns are significantly smaller than the Late Romans and I'm asking if somebody here could kindly post a close pic of one plastic Saxon next to a Late Roman to compare them.
TIA

I really don't know the answer to your question because I don't have the GB late Roman box. I do have the Thegns, Vikings, and Dark Age warriors. All of these are compatible. A picture put up today by Suetonius Paullinus shows a GB Late Roman next to  dark age warrior. They look compatible to me.

Hey, that's nice. I have plenty of left overs from various boxes of GB plastics. I might look at some kit-bashing to add some Romano-Brits support to my Late Romans. Maybe I can sculpts some of those pillbox hats.
Below is a link to my blog. It's the place where I write uninteresting things about little toy soldiers. I do this because I refuse to grow up and behave like an adult.

I just think the thegns (and viking hirdmen which are basically the same bodies) are crouching a bit more in their stances, which may give the impression that they are smaller.
Ask at the LAF, and answer shall thy be given!

This picture includes two saxons and one viking body from GB, two Warlord auxilia, and the rest of the bodies are from the late roman box. Heads and arms have been mixed up. I'd say they work perfectly fine together.

More pics can be seen in my thread here. <= LINKY
