Thanks Eric, I'm planning on visiting Ypres next October.  While I'm in the area I'll factor in a trip to Waterloo too.

Thanks Eric, I'm planning on visiting Ypres next October.  While I'm in the area I'll factor in a trip to Waterloo too.

I spent a week in Ypres in 2014 with a friend on a battlefield tour (Ypres, Hooge crater, Mons, Waterloo and the Scheldt up in Holland) it's a fascinating area from a military history point of view and actually a beautiful area in its own right.  Plus loads of good beer!

When I went to Waterloo they were still in the process of renovation so interesting to see what it looks like. It's such an evocative place. Going to Hougemont farm was a huge thrill I must say.
