Any idea of when the Germans and Dutch might be available? Great figures by the way I cannot wait for the French the French wars of Religion. I know the French are a way off.
The Germans and Dutch are sculpted and I'm just waiting for the caster to have a slot open, which they tell me will be mid-May. The French have just been begun. First codes will be Heavy Lancers (so the Gendarmes and Archers, plus the equivalent troops fielded by the Catholic League), and the lesser armoured cuirassiers that Henri IV put in the field. They were not as heavily armoured as full-blown cuirassiers, but were a crucial part of later Huguenot armies (Henri IV often fought in this light harness himself).
Then the Royal Swiss will be made -- I have some wonderful, rare eyewitness illustrations of the Swiss in the War of the Three Henries that will make for handsome and distinctive models. Probably the rest of the range at that phase too, but I'm more excited about the Swiss. :-)
Remember that my range is late 16th Century, starting in the 1580s, so this will be the end stages of the FWoR. The War of the Three Henries, basically, but that's arguably the most interesting phase from a military perspective anyway. So for instance the Germans are depicted in a combination of pluderhosen and less baggy trousers, as they often were depicted in the same companies in period illustrations. Pluderhosen, while on the way out, were still worn by about half the men.
After the French, probably the Muscovites, Swedes and Poles for the later stages of the Livonian War. The Danes can just be fielded with Germans and Dutch, IMO. This was the beginning of the Heavy Polish Husar, introduced by Stephen Bathory, and they seem to have turned the tide against Ivan the Terrible's Muscovites, at least in part. In this stage they wore the wing on the side of the horse -- as a matter of fact they don't seem to have started wearing two wings on their backs until late in the 17th century (many gamers will be distressed to read!).
