Boiler-Tank

I was forcibly off-line for a while when my internet provider had some network issues, and as a result, had to be productive.

Part of the results of that productivity was this: a steampunk tank-thing.



Now that my digital crack is flowing again, I've uploaded it to Shapeways so it can be given physical form and be birthed into the real world.

It's of indeterminate scale, and could be used with 15mm, 20mm or 28mm figures, at your pleasure. The main gun is a separate component and can be installed at whatever angle you want. On a sprue inside the hull are a pair of pintle-mounted Gatling guns that can be mounted poking out through the slot in the front of the hull — realistically, there would be room for only one, along with its gunner and loader and associated clutter, but I've provided two in case you want to make it look fiercer.

The basic form is based on an uncredited photograph I found on the web of somebody's scratch-built model, but I've jazzed it up quite a lot. So thanks, mysterious anonymous modeller.

In 1/56 what would the dimensions be?

Are your Gatling gun barrels available separately?

Approximately 11 x 6 x 8 cm.

The gun barrels aren't available separately, but the whole guns are (but only in 15-20mm scale, I haven't re-scaled them yet to 1/56)

Sorry to be a pedant, but I have to wonder if the track wouldn't tear out walkway at some speeds.

High marks for 'fierce' though.

This is a Porche tank, at higher speeds the walkway raises up to act as a spoiler.

We know; just teasing after the 'spoiler' comment.

However, even at slow speeds the slack at the back wheel would probably be tightened, maybe flop about somewhat.

Reminds me quite a lot of a hybrid of the Ironclad Miniatures models

and this was one I did some years ago.

Oh, I thought of the Ironclad line immediately, not so much your tank. However, there are a few points in common with some Dystopian Legion tankettes and Tobsen designs. Could fit, methinks.

No Doug the only similarity with my tank was the placement of the gun in a curved hull...

Ah, understood. My never realized conversion of old GI Joe IMPs would have used the front hull 'clips' as gun ports. Not curved, but similar idea. I guess yours being a main gun and Fitz's being secondary may help explain my density.

Well, I didn't look in the first place assuming a fair amount of sticker shock. Honestly, though still beyond my pain threshold, I had a 'not as bad as I feared' moment.
