Plastic pike advice needed!
« on: 19 December 2016, 07:36:08 PM »
Hi there! I am planning on converting some WH empire spearmen to 16th century pikemen. To do this I need a length of hard plastic roughly the diameter of a Warhammer spear. I will cut of the tip, add the extra length and attach the tip again. Do you have any ideas how to get hold of the material, preferrably from some household item :)

Cutting just the tip off and adding an extension sounds very adventurous to me. I would reccommend to cut off the whole shaft, drill out the hands and insert a stiff bristle from an outdoor broom.

I recommend using 1mm diameter steel rod, like this: http://www.hobbylinc.com/htm/k+s/k+s9861.htm.

Cut the original weapon below and above the hand(s) and drill through the hand(s). Cut off the shaft of the spear and drill a hole into it in which you insert the steel rod. See picture below for an example.
