Printed Graveyard pieces
« on: 24 January 2017, 08:41:15 AM »
I printed these graveyard pieces over a year ago and finally got around to painting them. To disguise the print lines (I printed at rather low resolution) I mixed up some sand, PVA and paint and it did a fairly good job of masking it.
I really just gave them a super quick paint as I wanted to get them out of the way. I'm pretty happy with the result though. I added some grass and bushy bits to finish it off.

EDIT: forgot to add. I designed them myself on Sketchup. Go me!

Those look terrific! 3D printing is a complete mystery to me, but those are superb - great designs, and great painting!

I honestly can't remember how long they took as they were printed so long ago (a year). Definitely at least overnight though. So I can't remember the settings either.
I printed them in 2 pieces, roof and room. I made a hole in the centre of the buildings though to save some time (I think).

Some of the details. You can still see the print lines but they are somewhat disguised.

Pretty good though considering that door is meant to be for a 28mm sized mini.
I've been tempted to paint the coat of arms and then weather it a bit.
Also, that is meant to be a book on the second picture and vine things in the last.
I did quite a bit of destruction to the corners of the buildings as well (during design rather than afterwards)

Very cool.

That's got to be a neat feeling to see your design actually come to life (and look damn good!)
