Commemoration - Arras 1917
« on: April 07, 2017, 07:01:26 AM »
This weekend sees the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Arras in 1917.  This battle saw the greatest involvement of Scottish regiments and formations in a single battle.

I will be at a presentation Saturday night and services and parades in Livingston and Edinburgh on Sunday evening.

The Beating the Retreat on the Esplanade of Edinburgh Castle will have massed pipes and drums (over 100!) and the Band of the Royal Marines on parade.

All welcome, free entry, no tickets for Esplanade events required.

Anniversaries are coming thick and fast.  This Sunday Canada commemorates the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge.  Hundreds of Canadian schoolchildren, Cadets (Army, Navy, Air Force) and others will be commemorating at the monument in France.
