Dinosaurs?
« on: 09 March 2009, 06:35:56 PM »
anyone point me towards some pics of painted dinosaurs, looking for inspiration (in miniature form), some ideas on how to paint the HLBS dino's (various raptors from Ovi upwards..), or evene an article if anyone knows of such...

also looking to source some terror birds if anyone knows where I could get those?

Cheers in anticipation!

Steve barber has a terror bird (with nest & eggs) in his 25mm range called Prehistoric Settlement. He also has a prehistoric animals range, but it isn't listed in there:

As for artwork, we quite like the book "Dinotopia" - there is a website :

I think the book was far better than the film.

Amazon Miniatures have a couple of large birds in their Prehistoric range:

http://www.amazonminiatures.com/catalogue/index4.asp?rName=Prehistoric%20Animals%20and%20Hunters

And Copplestone used to do one, but it doesn't appear to be on their site anymore.   :(  No idea why.

And there is this How-to by Blackfly on Steve Dean's forum:

If you do a search for dinosaurs on here, I'm sure there will be plenty of pictures to inspire you.  :)

Ral Partha made some very nice ones, in my opinion the best currently available. You can see them here:

What an amazing site! Thanks for sharing the link. The artwork is beautiful - I have some HLBS raptors to paint and this has given me loads of ideas! Cheers

The book has some possible ideas for VSF scenarios too.
