His first tank.  He built it by himself, primed it by himself (required figuring out how to spray as his fingers are still too tiny), and painted it by himself.  I am so proud of him.  He is four.

I was about that age when I tried to build my first Airfix kit. Manfred von Richthofen's Dr.I. At the conclusion of the endeavour it was evident that I had accurately recreated that time the Red Baron famously crashed his triplane into a glue factory.


Your lad is a much more promising prospect. You are right to be proud. Bravo!

That is fantastic.   I bet he enjoys seeing that you have posted it here as well.   I know when I have posted stuff my kids either did or helped on they got a kick out of seeing it on the 'net.

It was his birthday, yesterday, and everyone seemed to be thinking the same thing: he wound up with 12 models (plus one lego set - an airplane.)

He did want to learn about decals.  I'll see if I can find something that fits.

I was thinking about the tracks, too, but was so excited to take it to the office with me that I didn't insist.  I think we could use those tracks as a lesson in washes and drybrushing.  Maybe I'll take it back home.  It just feels like magic to me and I don't want to change a thing.

At this time he has no concept of the internet.  I try to keep my kids from having a web presence (and I'm a computer engineer - go figure.)  But he knows how proud I am.  Dear God, we have fun together.  What a fantastic little kid!

LOL  I agree this is not a bad looking tank at all!  What company is it, Erik?

I still have my very first model, a 1/48 F-105 Thunderchief.  I lost the directions and guessed at how it went together.  Then I painted using scissors to spread red paint because I could not find a paint brush.  I was 6.  Your young fellow's efforts are superb.
