The sleepy little border town of Aqua Verde...
« on: May 02, 2017, 01:42:37 AM »
Soon to be echoing to the sound of gunfire...

Pedro, Conchita and assorted peasants go about their busy day...

"Wot did you do in the war Grandad?"

"I was with Harry... At The Bridge!"

In the dawn's early light two gangs of scumbags turn up. The first is Snake Eyed Pete and his bunch of rattlesnakes, the second Colonel Mortimer and his sidewinding crew of ex Johnny Rebs...

Just after sun up and it's all over. Colonel Mortimer has met his bloody deemise, Snake Eyed Pete has slithered off back into the badlands to lick his wounds and a new leg-end is born.
Meet Major Hampton Gayblade, late of the 4th, Virginia Cavalry, this steely eyed shootist kilt four of Snake Eyed Pete's mob and left their leader with a ball in his guts...

Shouldn't it be Agua Verde?

Or is it Acqua Verde cos it's a Spaghetti Western?

I see why you don't need more Mexican buildings. The first of the Western buildings nearing the end of their repair/tart up.

Great report. I especially love Snake Eyed Pete's figure.

What rules did you use? And where did you get that nice deck of cards?

Thank you for sharing!

Definitely a combined operation. I'm well pleased with the buildings, but you've got to admit, that them smartly painted Mexicans are the bee's knees! The only contribution I've made, to the whole shebang, is the onesey battlemat and 'Snake Eyed Pete'!

A, the rules used are 'Fistful of Lead', the deicated playing cards are available from the game's author, our very own dear Baron! They really add to the flavour, pace and fun of the game. There's two 'Snake Eyed Pete's' in the collection, both came from a Corn Flakes box...

Well, that's embarrassing. I actually own those cards - I just didn't see any of the "specials" and so thought it might be another set. Not to hijack the thread, but how do you like Fistful of Lead? I'm currently in a quandary what set of rules to use for my gunfight project: I have Fistful, Desperado, The Rules with No Name, Gutshot, the old Boot Hill rpg and even a freebee from the internet. My trouble is I like elements of each but haven't been entirely won over by any of them. My current leaning is to graft the Boot Hill combat system (which is quite good, even after all these years) onto the activation system of TRwNN, but now you have me thinking about FofL again. And it would be a chance to use that nifty card deck, which is a thing of beauty. Decisions, decisions...

Arundel, good luck! :D  I actually wrote my own rules as a result of the same quandary.  Like you had several OW rules sets and just didn't "love" any of them at the time.  The nice thing is that none of them require unique basing, terrain, or table-size.  You can always play them all, or meld some together as you mentioned.  I think at the time I had LoToW, TRWNN, Gutshot, another online freebie and some old printed Desperado rules.  I had also read Blackwater Gulch but didn't bother downloading it, despite being free.

What elements are you looking for in your game?  We have a listing on here somewhere of all the rules sets we've compiled.

Arundel, I've got just about all the Western skirmish rules and was working my way through reading them when FofL arrived. I burst out in laughter in almost the first paragraph, got out the toys and started playing... and we've been laughing ever since. FofL was the only set I had to start slingin' hot lead and dices as soon as I saw them!
