Victorian Frostgrave - Who's Who?
« on: 10 May 2017, 03:19:21 PM »
We are planning to run a club campaign/league at Tring Wargames Club later in the year. I already have various old Fantasy/RPG characters I can use for Frostgrave in the more conventional setting, but one of the guys is creating a Victorian themed set-up. He has already hand built several complete and ruined brick houses, with decorated and furnished interiors, so I thought I'd have a go at putting together a suitable warband. I dug around in my various boxes, trying to avoid my Darkest Africa collection as much as possible, this is meant to be urban Britain not the wilds of the Congo!

This is what I have come up with, but I'm still not completely certain who to use for what character. I'm treating revolvers, swords, clubs/canes etc as close combat weapons (perhaps revolvers as 2-handed for the extra damage), shotguns and rifles as bows and crossbows.

Here is the cast

Holmes and Watson, Wizard and Apprentice or fighting types?

The Major and his faithful servant - Knight and Archer?

Thugs, upper class Thugs admittidly (who said thugs can't be snazzy dressers?)

Ratcatcher (! ???) and Investigator, possibly alchemist or put him together with The Major as Wizard and Apprentice

Adventurer and roller skater, Thug or Man at Arms and someone fast like a Treasure Hunter?

Pair of shooty types, Archer or Ranger

What do people think?

Hi Sunjester,

Interesting figure selections - how abought the Major and the Investigator as wizard and apprentice?

The Consulting Detective and his sidekick as a Templar (or captain) and a Ranger, respectively?

Like the idea of pistols, swords, clubs etc as close combat weapons.

We played shotguns and rifles as crossbows, with pistols as bows.

Looking forward to reading how your adventures go ..

Governor General: I've been following your thread with interest since you started, but didn't know my mate at club was also going for a Victorian theme until more recently.

Ramirez Noname: I think I'll go for the two book wielders as my magic team, I like the idea of Holmes as a Templar, but possibly not for the first couple of games. Perhaps a Knight and then upgrade him once I get some cash.

I would agree with the bookish ones as wizard and apprentice; maybe Holmes as Captain, befitting his status?

You could use your rat catcher as a Crowmaster and say the rats have the same abilities as the crows, they can pass through terrain via gaps, burrows etc.
