Figures for King's Royal Rifles

Would the Empress figures in Glengarry's be a close match for the King's Royal rifle's?

Look pretty close to me...perhaps just a little bit of green stuff here and there. Then paint them up as per your picture. In the end...they are your figures and with a wee bit of imagination, they are perfect. In reality, who would complain. I for one wouldn't care as long as they look great, the terrain was great, the game was fun and the company played with was a great bunch of folks!!

You'll have to mount that pipe-cleaner on top of their hats.   :)

I reckon its close enough, as the chaps have maybe some greenstuff plumes, but near enough.
I also fancy doing a rifles unit. Its a very nice contrast to the usual recoats. ;)

There is some information specific to the KRRC at http://www.victorianstrollers.co.uk/stevesuniforms/riflecorps.html

I think that the hackle (feathers) may well have been discarded in action if they went to war in this uniform.

The headgear in the drawing is actually a sealskin busby, not a glengarry.  At scale, however, the difference probably wouldn't be noticable.  Fill in the crease at the top with greenstuff and file off the badge, and you're good to go!

(Oh, and add the plume...)

So I see an order going off to Empress. Thanks for all that. Especially the note on the busby and that great website.

The distinguishing characteristic of the King's Rifles for me was that they carried their rifles on their sholdiers in reverse (ie holding the muzzles end instead of the butt).  I made a unit by cutting the weapons free and re-gluing it upside down.  You could not do his with these particular figured however.

Depending on the campaign, the KRR had pith helmets

So I ordered and have received 20 of the figures carrying their rifles at trail.

The figures are excellent and the service from Age of Glory was almost immediate. The figures are compatible with everything I have but I think they come closest in size to the Perry Sudan range.I spent last night cleaning them up and drilling a small hole in the cap and inserting a short piece of wire to support the cockade I'll be making out of green stuff.

I can't wait to see them in action at Kublacon.

Here they are with all but their bases done.

The Empress miniatures are very nice to work with.
