28mm Brickworks/Factory from Black Grom Studio
« on: 14 May 2017, 10:09:08 AM »
Hi folks,

Here's my latest completed project, the 28mm Brickworks from Black Grom Studio.  No connection with the company but as a satisfied customer I can recommend this supplier - prompt and helpful service from Poland to Australia via ebay.

I shall be using it mainly for WW2 gaming, but it will also do duty in steampunk and modern settings, and anything in between.  It is ostensibly a brickworks, but can work as any small industrial building of the era.

The kit goes together well, and is very versatile with a number of separate components.  It includes a partial second floor inside the main building, and all the components are modular allowing various arrangements of chimney, office building, main hall and shed.  A door on the first floor of the main building allows access via a removable ramp.

I made a few tweaks:
  • left off the big loading door on the main building
  • glued on printer paper bricks from paperbrick.co.uk
  • added corrugated card roof to the roof plates
  • glued coffee-stirrers to the ramp
  • please note the figure, vehicles and cobblestone mat are not part of the kit

General view 1.  The factory owner's (1/48 Tamiya) Traction Avant and a 28mm figure for scale:

Another view with the components arranged differently.  This time an Opel Blitz has turned up:

The back view:

And as luck has it, the whole thing packs up for convenient transport and storage...

All stowed away:

Hope you enjoy.

Great job!
And thanks for showing this, I was just looking for some factory buildings and these are a much cheaper alternative than the ones I found so far. That brickworks site is mighty helpful too.

Superb.  :) :-*

There were plenty of these adverts DUBO DUBON DUBONNET painted on buildings, on walls (with the stonework showing underneath) and in the Paris metro etc, when I was a kid. A few can still be seen, almost erased, on some old walls in remote places.

Very nice indeed!
