54mm Inquisitor Victrix kitbashing
« on: June 08, 2017, 09:47:10 AM »
Okay...this is perhaps the wierdest project I started in a few years....:)

After building a huge 54mm napo game for the do or dice convention, I was left with some spare minis.
I somehow had the idea of building something strange with it....like Inquisitior style stuff.

The project is well underway in my german home forum, but I will try to translate the stuff over the next few days...

Okay here is the start with a victrix dollie, lots of greenstuff and some modelled bits.

After going throu my thin bits box I noticed that I need more bigger stuff, so I had to model it myself. Wich took me ages... Its made from Fimo stuff wich you can bake in the oven.

I ll try to translate more of my progress over time.....;)

Cheers,
Don....:)

Not a scale I've ever dabbled in, but this should be a thread worth following! 8)

Looking good so far; I can only imagine that this scale has quite different challenges from our regular 28mm and 15mm. Also; imaginative use of 28mm bits!
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

Here is the first batch of characters.

A smuggler/trader with a tsrange hat, mutant gladiator (moria plastic troll; weapon from a Killakopter), gunslinger with oger head and a servo skull.

...and a kind of sideview.

Don

Cool idea and approach.  The idea of gaming 54mm is terrifying to me (simply based on terrain needs), but I sure like watching other people do it.  lol

Really have no interest in gaming Inquisitor or the 40k fluff myself but damn do I love seeing people's creativity and modeling chops exercised in pursuit of it.  :-*. Looking good!

Great looking conversions, convenient as playing Inquisitor at 28mm is, in 54mm the game always looked epic. (It was building scenery - & then finding somewhere to store the resulting huge structures, that was a pain.)

Thanx, for your comments....;)

Here a few more things.

The victrix minis are cool but I qanted a few robed minis in my gangs too.

So I ha to modell something myself. Even tried some heads....;)

Okay, the heads turned out too big, but the plastic stuff from the orks worked pretty well.

And here is brother Jakobus traded a part of his brain for a personal latar....:)
...and is carrying lots of boooks with him.

Shoulder pad for the gunslinger...

Okay, here are the next tqwo cahracters.

One more Inquisitor (a witchhunter). and a Sqaut aka space dwarf.....:)

The dwarf is made from an old Orkwaaaaahgboss from the Blackreach box. I cut the lower part of the face and exchanged it for a beard.

Helmet needs a little bit more greenstuff.

And the start of a chaos psyker...

Don

Great project! I'm looking forward to seeing how it develops. I've often been tempted by 54mm minis but never took the plunge.

Thanx for your comments....;)

Here are few first tries of paint.
I found these big 54s rather difficult to paint. All the 28s technics seem to not work to well. Highlighting is different and washing can go awfully wrong...

So, her are the frist two miniatures: Iquisitor and Squat.

And a little more distant shot....

Don

This is a really interesting project. Your imagination has been able to float free of any constraints and you have put left over bits to great use. Must have been enormous fun. The painting looks like it worked OK to me.
I am going to build a wargames army, a big beautiful wargames army, and Mexico is going to pay for it.
