Good Scenarios
« on: 19 March 2009, 11:05:49 AM »
Hey,

I am working on a game that focuses on Call of Cthulhu gaming; it's called Cosmic Horror (but if anyone has a better name, let me know :)). The rules themselves are almost finished and just need some polishing. I am working in Adobe Indesign and Comic Life to make a slick document and Melvin de Voor (better known as Illustrange) is making a cool piece of cover art.
One of the things I need to expand are the scenarios. I now have two scenarios: a small group of investigators are investigating a mysterious cematary when they are attacked by ravenous ghouls & investigators stumble on Deep Ones spawning grounds in a swamp near Innsmouth (I chose a swamp as the sea would be difficult). I have another scenario in the works where investigators and police officers must stop cultists who have just summoned a Dark Young. I am aiming for 5-10 scenarios in the book.

If anyone has any other questions about the game, chant them ;)

Sounds interesting Mal, would love to see it when it's done. My ideas for scenarios are a bit limited at the mo. My first is going to be the Spanish Innsmouth I've discussed here, then a scenario based on the story from Call of Cthulhu about coppers raiding a voodoo gathering in the bayou near New Orleans. After that, since I bought a load of HBLS WW1 Americans when I planned to do an assault on Innsmouth, I'm vaguely planning to do something with American expeditionary forces into Haiti and Central America and something lurking in old ruined Mayan etc temples and cities.
Waiter, my soup is giggling.

Cheers! Good ideas. There sure will be a couple of scenarios in South America and in Egypt. It just gives so much more interesting ideas. Disadvantage is that I do need more suitable miniatures though ;)

That's the fun part! For the New Orleans scenario I plan to buy coppers from Brigade, Dixon, Copplestone and EM4, and for the cultists I'll use Brigade's Haitian range with Artizan, Rattrap, and RAFM figures for waterfront types, with some EM4 nightgaunts thrown in for good measure. My deep ones for the Spanish Innsmouth are going to be a mixed lot, with figures from EM4, RAFM, Strange Aeons, Horrorclix, possibly Reviresco and Dragonrune, and again various waterfront types for less mutated deep ones. For the Central American and Haiti scenarios, I still need to read a lot more Lovecraft and do a lot more research into the Banana Wars before I decide on what the yanks are going up against.
