AEWWII Brit Druid and Green 'Man'
« on: 19 March 2009, 07:48:49 PM »
The last weird war element of my Brit Airborne force for Darksons AEWWII. The official druid and green man are not yet released, and I am not 100% keen on the Green Man model itself, so I decided to use another miniature.

The druid is surrounnded by a ritual circle and has just sacrificed a bunny with his silvered Sykes-Fairbairne knife in order to summon the nature spirit. I know it's a little 'out there', when compared to armoured battle suits and mad science, but I like it  ;)

Really like the miniatuers. Is the druid AEWWII?
"Peace" is that brief, glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading.

Neat idea.  I love your forest spirit.  And the druid is very effective as well.  What did he start out as?  I assume you added the amulets around his neck?

Very cool. Inspired by 'Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell' I've been wanting to do a similar merge between the real and the mythical but i a 18th century setting.

Nice painting but I'm not sure about the Druid figure.

If druids are required to have a love and respect for nature, would he really be sacrificing a rabbit?  :-I

I don't know whether to be a good example or a horrible warning.

The druid started life as an Artizan mortar crewman before finding 'nature'.  ;)

The danglies around his neck are greenstuff, as is the poor little bun at his feet.

Personally, I think the original druids were probably a pretty practical and potentially nasty bunch if crossed. Nature, red in tooth and claw, is how I see war and nature magic mixing.

Agreed. The idea of druid having 'love and respect for nature' is a New Age concept and has little to do with the original druids.

Loving the druid, torn on the Greenie (don't get me wrong, it's beautiful) - but then again, I'm also torn on the official mini, with his little 'conqueror worm' legs...

On the forums, look under 'News & Previews' or in the 'Weird War Wednesday' thread.
