British Grenadier was inspired in part by Loose Files & American Scramble, which are free here http://www.flamesofwar.com/portals/0/all_images/wargamesillustrated/wi1-webloosefiles.pdf

I think you might find them rather good, and games get resolved if the scenario requires one side to do something other than sit around and fire at long range. I do find the C&C a little sticky, but everything else is fast and furious.
And the glorious general led the advance
With a glorious swish of his sword and his lance
And a glorious clank of his tin-plated pants. - Dr. Seuss

Personally I find BG a little clumsy , slow and maybe a little dated . To many charts ,  modifiers for my taste.
For all its faults BP gives a fast game , far more streamlined and " fun" .
It can  very easily be adapted to give AWI flavour  with a few tweaks .
It has been fashionable to knock it recently but there is a reason it is by far the most popular horse and musket rules  out there.

Is it?
No plan survives first contact with the dice.

Is it?

Yes ł think it is  ( UK. ) . Doesn't  make it the best ( marmite) but certainly the most common (popular) . Many play in regular groups , friends of author  etc and are understandably comfortable with their preferred  sets . Certainly ł see more Battle Reports /topics , gamers at shows etc concerning these rules than any other over the years . It's only a personal observation .

Fairly new to AWI . Our games are usually group games at the club on a Tuesday . 4/5 players a side . I think that we have now tried every commercially available rules set and have to agree  that for a fast, enjoyable , multi player game than can be picked up quickly BP are the "best".
Every other set we've played has had some complication or other that slows the game down too much . Our games are usually 15-20 battalions, batteries, squadrons a side.
