SMF Avengers vs Masters of Evil
« on: June 23, 2017, 11:27:53 PM »
Played my first game of Super Mission Force. I decided on just a straight up fight between The Avengers (Cap's Kooky Quartet) vs Baron Zemo and three of his Masters of Evil.  I decided to go with basic characters no street level, super or powerhouses.

Avengers

Captain America

Brawler

Scrapper, Shield, Melee Specialist
Military; Athletics

Hawkeye

Blaster

Archery*, Fortune Iron Will   *(Power Blast; Entangle; Sonic Blast; Super Agility)
Exploration; Performance

Quicksilver

Speedster

Speed, Super Agility, Stun
Exploration; Criminal (from the Brotherhood days)

Scarlet Witch

Sorcerer

Sorcery, Power Blasts, Jinx, Fortune, Iron Will, Telekinesis
Arcane; Criminal (from Brotherhood days)

Masters of Evil

Baron Zemo

Mastermind

Enhance, Gadgets, Savant
Science; Criminal

Melter

Blaster

Power Blasts; Damage Shield, Clever
Criminal Blue Collar

Swordsman

Brawler

Scrapper, Melee Specialist, Enhanced Senses
Criminal, Performance

Power Man

Brick

Super Strength, Resistance, Tough
Criminal, Blue Collar

Avengers get the call that the Masters of Evil are up to no good in the industrial part of town and fly over to stop them.

Melter and Zemo take out Quicksliver. Zemo used his 3d range attacks from Gadgets to great effect rolling 5 and 4 hits on Quicksilver in two consecutive attacks.

Swordsman finishes off Cap, but is then taken down by Hawkeye the next turn.

The Melter is taken out by the Scarlet Witch, but Zemo again uses his Gadget to full effect and rolls 6 damage on 3d and takes out Wanda.

Hawkeye and Zemo battle it out with the archer finishing on top.

Fun game. Zemo was a monster with his 3D attack for most of the game.  The Melter managed to stay on his feet by passing his KO roll and avoiding damage long enough to take out Quicksilver. Hawkeye was death from above.

Can't wait to play again.

Very enjoyable report!

I'd also like to know if you scratch built your terrain and how  :-*

Thanks for the kind words.

The terrain is a mix of scratch built, a modified birdhouse, small wooden boxes, and two Plasticville buildings.

The birdhouse and wooden boxes I found at a big box craft store (Michael's) in the wood storage box area.  They also had a number of birdhouses that looked like buildings and I scooped one up that I thought had an industrial look to it.

I then took the boxes and glued them together to make the Ace Chemical building.  I used some plastic plumbing to make the smoke stacks and pipes leading into the buildings. Slapped on some paint and found the sign online.  The chemical towers are made out of Pringle's cans. I used knitting mesh or granny mesh to make the catwalk between the towers and ladders. Used foamcore to build the wall around the towers and found some barbwire from one of my son's abandoned toy sets and mounted it along the top. Based the whole thing on foamcore  and painted it up. The rest of the chemical storage towers are old soup cans of various size painted up and outfitted with plastic plumbing pipe.

The Goreman Furniture building is a wooden box from Michael's painted up.  The skylights on top were the lids of some jewelry boxes that had mesh on them, which I thought looked perfect for a skylight.  I use corrugated card board for the loading bay door and thin craft sticks for the man door outlines.  The loading dock is from Plasticville.

The bird house I painted grey and used corrugated cardboard for the roof.

The abandon building is a cardboard box covered with some O gauge railroad brick sheets, I used thin cardstock for the building edging and craft sticks for the boarded up windows. The fire escape is made with knitting mesh. I built the roof access with cardboard and craft sticks. the roof pipe is a small wooden dowel.

The other two buildings are the Plasticville Fire Station and Airport Hangar. Both are based on a 5mm thick foam sheet I found at Michael's.  This is the same stuff that DM Scotty uses for his Tilescapes. They take paint very well and glued on some flocking for grass and sand. I built the wooden fence out of craft sticks and the wooden crates are terrain I bought years ago and forgot who makes them.

I used 1 foot square self adhesive flooring tiles for the roads and painted them slate grey.

The minis are all Heroclix with the Power Man clix a re purposed DC Hawk clix with the cape removed and a new paint job to reflect the look of the pre Luke Cage Power Man.

Hope this helps.  I just wrote up some SMF stats for the Justice Society of America and hope to run something with soon.

Cheers,

Forgot to mention the chain link fencing. That is also knitting mesh cut on an angle to make it look like fencing. I glued it to a square dowel of balsa wood and mounted it on foam core.
