A13 Cruiser Mk.IV (15mm)
« on: 04 July 2017, 02:35:15 AM »

Here's the first of the 1:100 scale A13 cruisers from Zvezda, painted up and ready for the wargames table.

It's definitely what I'd call tabletop quality, designed to be seen from a reasonable distance. The Dark Green #4 and Khaki Green #3 scheme is a bit more contrasty than it would have been in the flesh, since otherwise the camouflage pattern tends to merge into a single greenish blob. Likewise, the dry-brushing to bring out the lines and detail of the model is very contrasty, and for the same reason.

These little models aren't diorama quality, but for wargames miniatures they serve very well.

Love the painting contrast you have achieved with the 2 main colours. Upgrade to a tabletop piece. Shame about their main gun barrel.
Cheers,

Lovely, one of my favourite tanks. In a fit of madness I once scratch built a 1/32nd scale one...

That gun barrel is probably actually in scale, we are so used to oversized ones on models.

Nice job.

What colours did you use for the main camo scheme?  ???

The Khaki Green #3 is Mike Starmer's recipe: 2 parts VMC English Uniform, 1 part Olive grey, 1 part German Camo Black Brown.
The Dark Green #4 is VMA Yellow Olive
Dry-brush to highlight detail is VMC Buff.
Everything is washed with Citadel Agrax Earthshade overall, and then a bit of pin-washing with Badab Black on things like grilles.

Thanks, have just bought 3, so I will be using your camo scheme to help me along.
