I've 'bean' (heh) using those beanbag toss bags for a few years under various cloths.  They're small and versatile, and you can use them to smooth out abrupt edges of books and so on, too.

The larger bag is something of a mystery source/purpose, though I think it might be one of those microwavable muscle heat bags.



Not the best examples, but here's a couple of shots from battlefield I set up a few years back that used them.  If you look closely at the first image you can see the contours surrounding the basin the temple sits in, and there's a few minis perched on one of the hills in the second (Bottom right of main image).
