Repurposed Mining Walker
« on: July 22, 2017, 04:27:07 AM »
From my Trollforged Pledge I received a number of these walkers (4 or 5 I think) This is my first one. I had the idea of a rebel mining crew that repurposed one of their walkers with a big gun on it rather than a drill and claw. I'll be doing a few more, probably with a variety of weapons. I was going to magnetise them but with the amount of walkers I have I will have plenty of variety available. I went for yellow on this guy but will be looking into other colour schemes for the other ones. I feel that I should have more variety in colours on this. Some black sections or such.
It was also a big test for me to do some rust on them. The end result was quite nice looking. So here are the first pics from my flickr account rather than photobucket. After seeing the pics close up I'll probably touch up the red a bit.

That looks the part, really nice weathering on the yellow.

Cheers all.
I like that design as well.
I think this was the best thing to come out of the kickstarter. It was a long time waiting though, 2-3 years past the expected delivery? Worth it though for the amount of stuff I got.

Looks good.  Nice to see someone else doing figs from this KS.  I was starting to feel lonely.

Which reminds me, where's that Queen level pledge I grabbed off the market gotten off too?

Closer to four, actually.  Still, they delivered, which is better than many KS utterfails.

Very realistic rusting and chipping. Best I have seen.
I am going to build a wargames army, a big beautiful wargames army, and Mexico is going to pay for it.

High praise indeed! Thank you!
I have been doing a bunch of stuff in that industrial yellow recently. Takes a little patience to get the hang of when working with it due to very low opacity but boy it looks so nice with rusting and chipping as Beefcake has aptly shown.
And the rusting and chipping is fairly easy too. Just sponging on the colour.

:) Yep. Some nice stuff in there. I've had my pledge for about a year or so now. I've half painted up the hosts. Just need to do the tentacles. And I've painted 5 or 6 grubs. They are nice and gross.
I primed a bunch of stuff but hadn't cleaned it right first so most of the primer chipped off. That will need a good scrubbing. Good luck with that other pledge. The first one has enough to keep one occupied for a long time. Did you get any walkers?

Great job on the walker, looks perfect for an industrial sci-fi setting.

I did an all-alien Swarm-level pledge, which I've already painted and sold about 85% of - just a few eggs, two Goliath Worms, and some bases unused at this point.  Have a Queen pledge coming (and it better be here soon), again all aliens.  Maybe I'll get around to the hunter stuff someday, the walker on this thread certainly looks nice.
