Hiya All,

Wondered if anyone might fins this interesting:

I've been basing my 15mm (and 6mm for that matter) on 2mm mdf (of all shapes) for a couple of years now. First I did it so I could use that cheap magnetic paper stuff, but the pull wasn't great on that front, so I started buying various cookie and biscuit type tins as and when I found a good one. The issue is that I always bought them piecemeal, which made storing them together a pain.

Well, recently I bought 24 of these from Tinware direct

https://tinwaredirect.com/collections/rectangular-and-square-tins/products/t2340-rectangular-142-x-102-x-40-stepped-slip-lid-300ml

and re-stored all my 15mm infantry. They work a treat:

I store the minis on the lids and the tins lid down (I try and only touch bases of finished minis, and it's much easier to pick them up from the lid rather than the deeper 'body' of the tin) and in these new, tight, tins I've managed to condense my 15mm infantry into one big plastic box. A revelation!

The tins hold ~30 minis depending on base size and pose, in a pretty compact size:

For 28s, I've had to go right up to this size tin with a swing lid (I just bought one sample)

https://tinwaredirect.com/collections/rectangular-and-square-tins/products/t2335-rectangular-195-x-153-x-76-hinged-step-lid-1400ml

It works, but it's nowhere near as clean and compact a solution, so the jury's still out on that.

Anyway, hope someone finds that interesting....  o_o

Nice find.

I've been using circular plastic sticky back magnets as my bases for a few years and been using a mix of plastic boxes lined with 'steel' paper but never thought of bakery products lol

Great ideas here guys. I'll move from my flat in a few weeks and still am trying to figure out how to transport my 15mm collection. They're all based on cents, so I was thinking about something with magnetic foil...

I use A4 box files or Really Useful Boxes, lined with steel paper and magnetic sheet on the figure bases.

Its worked for me for the last 20 years...

I do however also have a couple of metal tins in which I've got 1/3000th scale ships stored, with some of the smaller ones (CL etc) stored on the sides and very small ones (DD etc) upside down on the bottom of the lid!

Magnets are wonderful things!

  • Once bought, must be painted.

Really useful, but now I need to find a company which sells these and doesn't charge that much when shipping to Spain.
