Following the recent progress of the Old Skool Eldar threads posted by Elbows and Agis, my love for Old Skool Eldar has returned. Playing a game of SWA using my existing painted efforts helped as well but it is mainly down to seeing the efforts of the two aforementioned gentlemen.
Thanks, chaps.
 :D

Given the fact that all of my previous pictures were on Photobucket (and we all know what happened there...), I shall start again and give the Eldar their own thread this time.

The Eldar Pirates.

Eldar were my first painted army for 40K. There were other forces painted before them but none of proper 'army' size.
I am not attempting an 'army' this time around as I know my attention wanders too much for that and I also have no intention of playing 40K again, so that would be pointless. A small pirate band would be in order, in the style of early RT Eldar history, with the odd reference to later incarnations like Aspect Warriors etc alluded to rather than being definitive.

I began digging around in the leadpile for volunteers, with a few minor conversions on the way to personalise them a little.
Here are a few pictures of my efforts on the initial band before paint was thrown at them....

Group shot of the initial band.....

Painted picture later when I have collated them.

This looks a bit interesting! There was always a real charm about the RT Eldar and I think your conversions work well with it. I have mainly Aspect Warrior era stuff as we mainly used my mate's figures for Rogue Trader and my figures for WFB. The whole pirate band thing would be much more of interest if I was to dig them out but it's not so easy with Aspect Warriors, as you allude to.

Some really cool work here! The conversions add flavour and personality, they don't break the aesthetics, but bring new ways of reading the minis. Totally love them!

Thanks, chaps.

Regarding the Aspect Warrior angle: I do not intend to have squads of them, but instead reference them in conversions or slight alterations to the colour scheme whilst trying to keep them fairly consistent with the rest of the band.
For instance, the fella on the right here with the shuriken catapult has bulkier plates and the largest gun, so he will pay homage to the Dark Reapers once painted, whilst his companion has definite Striking Scorpion influences...

I can only seem to find one picture of any painted figures at the moment.
They must be on my previous laptop.
It looks like I will need to retake them all....

Paul, sometimes you can still suprise me. Great, when I saw the unpainted miniatures I was dissapointed, but painted they are wonderful. I also like the terrain you made the pictures on. Next Kickstarter maybe some terrain?

Glad that I did not disappoint you too much, mate.

The 'broken ground' terrain was made by majorsmith, with some aquarium plants scattered in the background.
Simples.

As for a terrain KS: I have no plans to do so at the moment, but am not ruling out doing something one day.
The next couple of campaigns are already in motion, and I am pretty sure that you will like at least one of them.

The best of the bad pictures that I took earlier, showing the members of the band painted so far.
A better effort must be made for closer shots methinks....
