Wonderful stuff all around, and a great story with great execution!
"In my opinion the only way that you are ever going to have a successful convention game is if you have great players..."This is so true...luckily I've only had one game so far where I had a couple of dud players! Great players = Great fun! One of the
challenges of GMing is to keep things moving and to keep things fun, but great players make that job easy. I was blessed at Origins to have four first-first rate chaps, and it was truly a joy!
"In talking with Francisco a few days later during the convention about the game he suggested going back to how Pulp Alley actually does the initiative, as it will add a whole different dimension to the game. I think he is absolutely correct and it's a great idea for next time. Maybe I'll even use a prop, a red hat like Carter wears perhaps, to help everyone know who has control of initiative."Absolutely agree with your conclusion. The Pulp Alley initiative system is one of the features that makes these rules so special...and personally I have always disliked random initiative. And initiative markers add a great touch to the game--highly recommended! I've been known to prowl through antique shops and craft stores looking for that perfect initiative marker...and don't forget eBay!
