Perry Mins WW2 FFL for Indochina?
« on: September 08, 2017, 08:30:47 PM »
I'm planning to use the Perry Mins WW2 FFL with FNG Miniatures Indochina Heads in Bush Hats for early period, 1946-50. Does anyone know were I can find 28mm post-war French weapons? SMG's would be great.

Size of the weapons TAG have available maybe a problem with Perry Miniatures.
Best wishes,

That actually sounds like a pretty cool idea. Post photos of it work out please.
Also what are you planning on useing as local force Viet-minh.
The FNG one seem to be set up for the later half of the war.

Actually,  I think size of the heads will be the bigger problem. I have both the Red Star/FNG French and some Perry metal 8th Army and there is quite a disparity in size. The Perry WW2 figures really are titchy little buggers.

If you are after French in shorts you might want to consider the Crusader FFL. I converted a couple using Australian slouch hats and they look quite reasonable. A couple of problems though. Firstly, there's only one packet of FFL in shorts and not all of them are readily useable, one figure is wearing Bombay bloomers. Secondly they are all wearing scarves. This didn't worry me so much but after converting a couple I lost interest.

I do wish FNG would expand the range beyond Dien Bien Phu era paras.

need to send FNG an Inquire to see what's up. But I do believe the folks at Empress said that they will be releasing some thing for that line before the end of the year.

Don't forget that WWII era USMC figures are also quite acceptable - the French used a lot of USMC clothing. Also Australians/14th Army in JG provide options.

Ok, I might admit defeat in suggesting a figure for this one!
