Wars of Insurgency rules
« on: September 16, 2017, 08:22:23 PM »

Hi everyone! My goal was to get this out by the end of August, so I missed my target by a few weeks. However, my rules for modern skirmish warfare are finally out! Wars of Insurgency covers small scale "guerrilla warfare" in the 20th & 21st centuries. Fast-play, easy-to-learn, but giving a real feel for modern warfare. Players control 3-5 squads (each squad ranging from three to a dozen miniatures each). We ran them most recently at Historicon 2017 in Fredricksburg, VA, where everyone had a great time. These were play-tested over years with my local wargaming club and also in conventions with strangers.

Those who like "Imaginations" will enjoy the campaign rules for conducting a war between rival factions for control of your country. With rules for Political Scheming, building Permanent Institutions, waging propaganda warfare and more, it is the perfect background to give your wargames a storyline.

Pick up a copy today for $15 from Lulu -- especially since Lulu is having a free shipping sale now through Sept. 18th. Here's the link to our website page for the rules: http://www.firstcommandwargames.com/wars-of-insurgency.html

Feel free to ask any questions about the rules...

Thanks, everyone! It is such a fascinating period with so many different types of conflicts. You should see the stack of reading material I have on my coffee table about it...!  8)

Hi Mike,
I bought if from Wargames Vault, and they look like very interesting, with various similarities to ARK47 Republic, but they are neccesary.

I have a doubt, because I can find the rules for melee combat, did they exist in the game?

 Thanks,

Good point! It happens so rarely I ended up not including them. But here's what I do: I simply have figures roll their base "Small Arms" attack dice. Defense dice will likely be base, as well, unless the tactical situation would give an advantage (like one is defending a barricade to attack). I would say that in all the games I've run, it happened once...haha!

Thanks for the purchase! Feel free to ask if you have any questions.

Thank you, Slorm, for the review! You are a very balanced reviewer, and I appreciate the way you bring up potential objections to the rules, but then explain why you feel they are still a good purchase. No rules set is perfect for everyone, of course, but at only $15 a copy -- and with many years of playtesting -- I feel they are a very solid set of skirmish rules. Not everyone plays campaigns, but I have always enjoyed them. That is why I tend to write a campaign set for every rules set I produce...! Luckily, Wars of Insurgency has their set included in the base rules.  lol

Loki -- I tend to use a 6 foot by 4 foot table for multi-faction games. When we were doing one-on-one campaign games years back, we squeezed it down to 4'x4'.

Feel free to post any other questions and comments. And just because I love photos of miniatures, here are some to spice up the post (all 20mm, of course)... lol

Done man! In a near future I will receive my first 20mm miniatures, so the readers will be spammed of battle reports and photos!
