Marvellous. The bastle house is tremendous and I love the cattle. I wasn't aware that cattle of this type were kept in the borders then.

Since the 6th or 7th Centuries, possibly imported by the Vikings.  Cute little chaps (and chapesses) aren't they?

Okay...pretty old Thread here...but I am going to the Do or Dice Convention in Rendsburg, Germany in the end of April. And want to get my Boder Reivers on the table....:)
So I have exactly 2 month to get everything ready.

My goal is get 3-4 troops with 6-8 man each, cattle and scenery and stuff to plunder and rob.

So here are some new additions to my Reivers. Slightly conversions with some greenstuff.

And one painted mini...:D

The range is very imited, so I searched my lead pile for some 28mm-stuff wich I could bring to the table.
I found some Foundry Sea Dogs....right size in the upper body but to short in the legs and arms.
More like Hobbits....;)

So I took my cutter and chopped away.

And even started to get some greenstuff in the gaps.

I wonder if somebody will notice the difference on the gaming table in a bad way....:)

Cheers,
Don

To nights work....:)

Started building a black house.
First cutting styrofoam bricks.

And then building stone by stone....;)

Started the roof....kind of....:D

Don

Nicely done! Will that roof be turf or thatch?

Thanx gents....;)

...turf or thatch?

Probably turf with some gras on top of it.

Something homebrew for the convention based on Triumph & Tragedy by Driscoles.

Builded a small well today. Just a little plastic card and some left over styrodor bricks.

And some brick laying...

And managed to paint one more trooper.

Stay tuned....;)

Cheers,
Don

Splendid, It will be very interesting to see the re-scaled 28mm figures once painted up alongside the real40mm ones.

This is a great thread. I must say I'm a bit taken-aback by your analysis of the Foundry Sea Dogs. I had always thought that they were one of Foundry's nicest ranges.

Nice, subdued tones, neat painting and an excellent face expression! Well done!

Thank you for your encouraging comments....:)

Todays work saw mostly greenstuff conversions on my Sea Dogs from Froundry. Sorry still too early for paint. Needs more layers of the green stuff...

I found an old Foundry blister in the lead pile. 8 times the same archer....;(
Okay cutting of a few arms and legs and tried to see if I can do somthing different then "archer".
Lots of headswaps with left over heads from teh Perry minis.

The 5th mini from the left is the original. No.2 is a 40mm Perry.
I know the great sword on the 3rd guy is little over the top....:D

And you can see my aproach: first inserting plastic pipes for construction...like bones and then some greenstuff on top of it.

And my borderer per day...:)

Could have painted the trousers better. But have to go to bed...feel little sick...;(

Cheers,
Don....:)
