Indian figures, what's available?
« on: 27 September 2017, 07:49:39 PM »
Are Dave Toones Indian figures still available?
Are these the latest produced figures on the market?

Last question,
Has anybody heard rumours of any plastic Indians being produced?

Thanks in advance
Tim

Watchful I was planning a range of Mauryan Indian figures but I don't know that any of them have been produced.

But he recently started a new company called The Miniature Company which is here

Both have Indians

Ah, that explains it.  I have some MDS Persians and thought the new ones looked really similar but when comparing them to the photos they weren't exactly the same.

I hope they do some mounted for the Persians.  The foot are really nice.

Newlines are a good range, but for the lack of cavalry, for which I used Pendrakens.

1st Corps do a nice range and the Essex Miniatures ones are veteran but still very usable. The old Vendel range has changed hands I believe so Im not sure if it is currently in production.

Mostly 1st Corps cavalry with a smattering of Essex.

I've a bunch of Vendel Indians, some painted, I'm flogging off at Derby (unless pre-empted   ;)). Nice figures, I think they went to Sgt. Major but they seem to be closing?

Hi Tim,

The Indian range is filling out pretty well now! I've just released some running figures to go with the casualties and there are 4 more archers poses and a couple more swordsmen for variety, that are ready for release next month. I just have to make a musician and there will also be a second command set available soon.

The Miniature Company figures are chunkier than the old MDS ranges and are much more like Vendel in size. They are 28mm from the base of the foot to the eye, so bang on scale!

Drop me a Pm with your address and I'll pop a few samples in the post for you  :D

Cheers
Dave

Thanks very much Dave.
Yes MDS figures were a little on the slight side.
The new stuff looks great!

Yes indeed! It's all part of the learning curve!  lol

Glad you like the look of the new figures. The scale is much better to work with as well as paint for the tabletop (I hate painting, but love to game, so they work well for me!).

Samples will be on their way!

Cheers
Dave

Just a wee comment from me, the Indians from TMC are very nice and a perfect match for Vendel in terms of style and scale.

I bought a few to fill out missing bits of a Vendel Indian army I bought on here and was very pleased with them and the service received.

Is that true of your Persians also?  Is there anything you can say publicly about your plans for your Persian range?

I picked up some of the MDS figures and thought they were fantastic.  What you have pictured for the new figs look awesome also but I haven't bought any yet.

Certainly is!

The Persians have a release schedule set in place for next year (although I should have some of the packs finished before the end of 2017) which, at the moment is set at 24 packs, which will include everything from more Spearmen and Bowmen through to Various cavalry, chariots, command, casualties and running soldiers. Very much looking forward to seeing the range build to a game-able army.

Drop me a PM with your address aphillathehun and I'll happily put some samples in the post.

Cheers
Dave
