Victorious Miniatures, new figures.

Victorious miniatures now have the Bicorn infantry and command group in stock, for the 1793-98 period.

Nice. Will there be bicorne wearing flank company figures too?

The flank companies wore the round hat with comb so already available.

Great looking additions. Grenadiers in bearskin would be nice

The grenadiers left their bearskins in the barracks in this period and wore either a bicorn or round hat with comb in the field.

This followed the same practice as was learned in the American war of independence, its cheaper to replace a bicorn than a bearskin, same with the Highland regiments  who stopped wearing the kilt, breaches were easier to make and more practical in poor terrain.

While that may be the case, for many it’s ‘the look’ which trumps reality, otherwise all figures would be in ragged campaign appearance. So I will stick with kilts, bearskins and such like.

Yankeepedlar01: I agree

Keith, I don't find grenadiers in bicorne in the range; are these planned?

By the way, what is the source of the statement that grenadiers did't wear the grenadier cap in the 1793-1795 campaign?

And imho as British uniforms resembled Hanoverian ones, these British could also be used for the Hanoverian contingent.

By the way, what is the source of the statement that grenadiers did't wear the grenadier cap in the 1793-1795 campaign?

James Ogden, A concise narrative of all the actions, in which the British forces were engaged, during the present war,on the continent 1793-95,extracted from private  letters of officers.

This and other sources, I will do the Grenadiers in Bicorns in due course.

Yes they could be used as Hanoverians .

We all build armies they way we feel is right for us, I don't dirty my figures as I like them to look smart. But uniform wise I try to get them as near as I can to what I think they would have been. Its down to each war gamer to do what he or she feels is right for them.
The range I am building is my interpretation of what I think was worn at this time others will have their own idea.
It makes for nice different armies.
Happy gaming.
