German vehicles in the Ardennes
« on: October 31, 2017, 05:06:46 PM »
Hey guys,

I've been browsing the internet and my modest book collection on this one, but I'd like some help with this. I'm looking for a good source on where the majority of vehicles used in the Battle of the Bulge can be found.

I know there were Panthers, Panzer IV's (J, even), Tiger I's, Tiger II's, Jagdpanthers, Jagdpanzer IV, Flakvlierings, 37mm flak on Pzr IV chassis, a whole lot of halftracks, kubelwagens, schwimmwagens...
I've read in one of my books (but I can't find it again for the life of me) OR saw it in a museum somewhere that there also was an Elefant-tank hunter taken out in the Ardennes...

Do you guys know of any more vehicles that are more or less special and certainly worth mentionning? Any help would be appreciated!
Daaaaaaaaaaaaah !

I know that Hetzers were also involved.

However, Elefants were never present in the Ardennes.
Check this discussion here on Axis History Forum:

The units(schwere Heeres Panzerjager Abteilung 653 & 654) that did have the Elefants at first, left their vehicles behind when they got re-equipped with Jagdpanthers and Jagdtigers. The Elefants went to a new unit (614) and returned to the Eastern Front.
Some figured when 653 and 654 got new equipment they took their old tanks along, which they didn't.
That's why some think there were Elefants present at Normandy too.

Don't forget the humble Stug III,  and various types of Marder as well as heavy infantry guns on various mounts.

I don't think there were any Brumbars, but there was a battalion of Jagdtigers.

Basically any late war German vehicle you can think of, apart from Elephants :)

Thing about the Elefant is that it would've been just 1, but as I said, I can't remember for the life of me.
I've searched the internet and the Jagdtigers didn't make it to the front, so that's a sketchy one as well.
