WG new plastic Pz38t
« on: 10 November 2017, 05:48:11 PM »

WG have released some pics of the about-to-be-released plastic Pz38t. It looks pretty good & certainly tempts me to do an early war force.

Plenty of rivets.

Any idea which version?

I don't need one (I do 1944 Normandy/Ostfront) ......and yet it's such a nice model?

Handy! My 1938 Czechs can double as 1941 Slovaks. Might buy two and convert one as a Peruvian example.

UVS - I'm assuming that its the TNHPS version which was about to go into service at the time of the German occupation - which I suppose would make it an Ausf A - but I struggle to spot visible differences between the Ausf A-G & S versions, with only the Panzer 38(t) neuer Art looking any different. I suppose the rivets are a bit over-size, but it doesn't really bother me much (they could always be filed down a bit).

LordSpode1879 - well there's always the Aufklärungspanzer 38(t) (in both 20mm & support L24 75mm versions) which would be pretty staightforward conversions - & are rather cool looking vehicles (the Rubicon 250/9 & 251/23 add-on box providing the Hängelafette turret, 20mm & mg mount - a useful set which has allowed me to turn a WG 234/2 into a 234/1) which would cover late war & the eastern front.

WG = Warlord Games, AKA Voldemort Games.

Some, indeed most, of their plastic releases are co-productions with Italeri. Check when it comes out as the Italeri version is usually 1/2 to 2/3 the Warlord price in model shops.

Yup!

The Panzer 38t is the other half of the Marder III project (and why the Marder is that version).

Except this has all the signs of being a upscaled PSC kit.

Has anyone any actual evidence of this oft stated rumour? It may well be true, I simply don't know. I think all of the plastic WG kits I have bought have been Italeri. Having built a couple of PSC's kits which are simple and intuitive, I would have thought them an unlikely source.

The spiky rivets made me think of PSC, but I don't know enough about the PSC model to compare to the above.

Hi Ballardian, my understanding is the thicker armoured D, E, F, and G had a straight driver plate versus the stepped one of the more thinly armoured versions.  Maybe only the G had it, not sure.  :)  But as for the individual versions, no idea.
