Ancient gold

I'm going to paint my Shadespire Stormcasts (the golden guys HERE).

I'd like to give their armours an old/worn look. At the moment I'm settled on using a "saturated" gold and use a technique to make them oxydized (green/bluish patina in the recesses). But this look is more suited to copper than gold. The great point in favor of this choice is it looks great, the contrast between the patina and the metal is very recognizable even at tabletop distance.
Anyone has examples of equally striking alternatives, more suited to gold? Pictures and "recipes" wold be greatly appreciated.

I paint "ancient" gold items, armour and such in a dark brownish copper, mix in several increasing amounts of gold and finally highlight with a gold&silver mix.

Looks nice. The thing I like the most about the green patina, is that when you paint a whole model goldish, it helps breaking the monotony. Your technique, albeit as not contrasting as green and metal, has great color variations (the pitcher in the first pic, for example). I definitely consider this. Thank you.

Does gold really oxidize that much? I could imagine gold getting scratched and worn, gold leaf flaking off, or something organic getting stuck to it, but...?

The embarrassing bit is, it turns out that I actually own those miniatures myself...

One of the reason gold is so cherished is that it Never tarnishes.  When it is mixed with other metals to make it workable, the other metal may tarnish.
