Port Complex Work In Progress

I have been working on some 24" square game boards for a port/harbour setting. I have used some 3" thick blue foam and covered it with cobble effect textured wallpaper.



The wallpaper was not wide enough to cover it in one go, so I had to make a join and thought I would make the join a "feature" instead of trying to hide it...



I have to do some work on the edges next...

So far so good- I like the cobblestone wall paper: looks good.

Before I get started with painting, inking and dry brushing the large pieces, I made a couple of small jetty's to test out how the large tiles may look.

The edges have been finished with balsa, which does a nice job of hiding the curve of the paper as it goes over the side.



I painted the whole thing with a light grey and then inked it with Army Painter Dark Tone.



I will do a bit of dry brushing to finish it off.

Great! I have a substantil armada of vessels for a 20th century setting so I have been longing to do something similar for a while. I will be watching your work lustfully.

I needed to do a bit of dry brushing to dull down the heavy inking and they came out okay.



Time to tackle a 24" by 24" section...

I have added the balsa edging to the main boards...

Well done.  This particular wall paper you used does provide a good effect.  I am not able to find a cobblestone effect wall paper like this with a fine (small) enough pattern.  What is the source of the paper you used?

I got the paper from a friend who bought it for a project, so I had to ask him...I used a lot more of it than he did...

It came from a UK store called the The Range.
