I loved the truck with the Mickey Mouse camouflage. Excellent work. Nice contrast between the body and the tarp. Tempting me to look into 1/72 again. But for some bizarre reason, when I moved, I decided to start to all over again in 28mm...       but 1/72 the range and options in kits are just exceptional, and encourages 'kitbashing'. Up until now, I was put off by the limited range of 1/72 infantry, but now that's being remedied and it makes 1/72 an even better choice.

Well, if you remember some months ago I've got an ACE US staff car to go with the project - managed to finish it now. Slow progress, but still.



And my plan with it - to make a command base for a higher HQ. 80mm round base, officer and MP from the Airfix USAAF set, will probably add a chap with a walkie-talkie wit the Matchbox set, or the casually standing rifleman from the Airfix US marines.

Well, just a planning update...pulled out some lovely Valiant German Paras from the stash, assembled the ones that weren't, and painted 11 of them. Plan is to make a 1000 points army for Bolt Action with 2-men HQ, 3x5 paras with an SMG and an LMG, a 75mm recoilless rifle, an AT rifle, a medium mortar and a spotter, a flamethrower and a sniper, all for Crete. Then a 1000pts army for the Brits, from the Valiant sets again, using the coverless Mk II helmets. They promised Commonwealth figures for Crete, but that was years ago...

Will convert and kitbash a bit, as some weapons are not covered by the FJ boxes. Also, once it's done, and I can play Trench Hammer and Winter Hammer enough from Nordic Weasel, I might try to make a supplement for Crete...but we'll open that door once we arrive to it.

They are really nice figures. I hope Valiant will break the silence and release some new figures soon. In 2016, they mentioned a metal Commonwealth range for Crete, that I'd really like to get.

Coming to this somewhat late, but just wanted to say I love the weathering on the vehicles, and it's very inspiring for my 1/72 project (for Chain of Command). mostly plastics with some SHQ coming to fill in the gaps for the platoons.

Thanks! Be advised tho that SHQ is small, even compared to MAtchbox and Airfix figures.

Thanks for the heads-up, any recommendations for metal matches for the usual plastic makers (Revell, Italeri, Pegasus, etc.)?

My US troops went to war for the fist time...and got their asses handed to them deservedly. I played really badly. Had 2 10-men troops, an Lt, a medic (who saved like 10 men), 2 Bazooka teams and a 76mm Sherman. It was all played out in Bolt Action. My enemies were some SS chaps, some guys with Assault rifles, some others with ARs and an MG, a mortar team, an Lt and a Tiger. After I lost most of my anti tank capacity, it was just a matter of time till I lost...because I was too cocky with my Sherman, I lost it on turn three - should have brought more infantry and a 75mm Sherman (or an 57mm gun and more support), but oh well. My opponent was still learning the game, and I wasn't playing that much effort into tactical thinking, as my terrain department was lacking too...but overall a good time, my medic got a Medal of Honor, looking forward doing some terrain!

Always fun when you get to play with the miniatures you've spent some effort painting. And don't worry about putting effort into the Tiger - you can ignore it and go for the other stuff.
