A most excellent game report, the terrain is very impressive, I didn't know you had such big buttes.  :o :o

Really enjoyed the read, the Apache seemed to had had a bad day, hope they are back soon to get their revenge.

Fantastic AAR and some great figures too. Apaches by Foundry?

Galloping Major and Artizan. Sadly the original Foundry Apache are too small, more like 25mm than today's large 30mm plus figures.

Lovely set up guys. Are the bark walls backfilled with blue foam or expanding foam, or some such material? I have a load of bark pieces to do the same thing but haven't started them due to not having anywhere to store them. I did wonder about making them hollow to store little ones inside big ones but that means the base is essentially a rim rather than a full baseboard. Any tips?

Back filled and stuffed with blue foam. Storage is the loft ;) lol

Just make them and be done with it. ;) lol

They learned their lesson good and proper. They'll be jumping that reservation again soon. ;)

Wow, what a great set up !

FFoL is brilliant fun and its good to read that others are enjoying. Hats of to Baron Von J for producing such an accessible and easy to learn game.

RMZ

+1 recommendation of the FfoL rules, and thanks to you for introducing them to us  ;)

The game was very enjoyable. I managed to use Malamute's innate ability to one less than the number required to my advantage, and even though the cavalry didn't arrive until turn 4 the homesteaders managed to hold on to their scalps (for the most part).

Excellent report guys and lovely toys as usual. Played the horse and musket version of these rules a little while back but I couldn't get on with them, I think now there were to many figures per player and it became a bit unwieldy.
This report has made me think about giving them another go  :)

Thanks to Steve talking about rims and everyone else talking about buttes, Paul will be along in a bit to talk about rimming buttes no doubt  lol

 lol

I reckon six figures each is about right for a decent game.

Good looking game and nice write-up.

Interesting rules as well, might give them a go for my Independent Texians.

Paul will be along in a bit to talk about rimming buttes no doubt  lol

This was actually a well practiced tactic used by the Apaches - they would crawl to the rim of their local butte and fire down on the cavalry.

"There go those goddam Indians, rimming their buttes again" was a phrase often heard from an ambushed cavalry patrol

Is that why you played the White Eyes, Mark? So as not to be confronted with the prospect  of rimming Nick’s Butte?
