WW1 British pack mules
« on: 14 April 2009, 09:34:37 PM »
Can anyone help me track down a source of pack mules wearing WW1 British mountain artillery pack saddles WITH NO LOADS ON THE SADDLES? I need these to make up a draught team to tow a Battle Honours 3.7" mountain howitzer, in a similar manner to the illustration in Osprey WW1 British Artillery book showing a 2.75" mountain gun being towed by two mules.

The nearest I've seen is this pack from Brigade, which has the correct saddles but unfortunately loaded with gun parts. I don't want to have to buy a full team like this in order to get the two mules I need.

Just ask Lon, I think he'll trade just the mules if you want. If not, Askari Miniatures has some mules

Tiger Miniatures have some mules in their equipment packs. Perhaps an email to get more detail?

Don't have any from WWI, but I do have a couple of Old Glory Victorian ones you can have. Don't worry about the weapon parts, they're not on the models, but the saddles are. Those reins that the chap is pulling on are moulded as part of the model, but would be easily removable if you don't want them. They're unpainted, this is a picture from the OG website just to give you an idea:

Close enough? If so PM me your address and I'll pop 'em in a jiffy bag for you.

Thanks Plynkes. Those look like they are a very close match to the Osprey illustration.

I think I might be a bit late but you could check these out if you're not already sorted;

Thanks for the responses guys.  Plynkes has come up trumps and supplied me with a perfect pair of OG mules, which now sit on my workbench awaiting conversion very soon.

If anyone else is looking to buy pack mules loaded or unloaded, Brigade Games have just added mule only packs to the "Diggers in the Pacific" range.  They look very tempting to buy.
